About this course

Good records are the practice's best defence and the patient's best protection — and poor record keeping is one of the most common findings in complaints, claims and fitness-to-practise cases. This module sets out what a complete dental record contains, how to write contemporaneous notes, how to record consent, discussions, options and refusals, and how to amend a record without ever altering history.

Covers retention periods for adult and child records and radiographs, secure storage and destruction, audit of record quality, and the reception and admin entries — medical history updates, contact details, missed appointments and messages — that matter just as much as the clinical notes.
